Position Summary:

The Supply Planning Manager is the key role for planning, controlling, and scheduling all activities supporting assigned supply sources (mainly BD In-House Manufacturing but some OEM Vendors) and/or product categories.

The Supply Planning Manager balances production and inventory levels with demand to support targets consistent with company growth expectations, customer service levels and inventory turns. 

This role will manage a team of Raw Material Buyers / Finished Goods Buyers and will lead efforts to maintain systematic business rules relative to supply planning, address product availability issues, and ensure that long term supply constraint issues are resolved or escalated when appropriate.


Supply Planning

  • Own Black Diamond Manufacturing’s Master Production Schedule and RM Purchasing Cycle.
    • Develop feasible supply plans (6-12 months rolling) for finished goods, semi-finished goods and raw materials.
    • Monitor Raw Material availability and adjust plans that balances target customer service levels, inventory levels and risk for obsolescence.  
  • Update the 6-12 month rolling supply plan on a monthly frequency with net change updates.
  • Work closely with the Demand Planning team to ensure lead-time and production capacity requirements are considered when reviewing demand vs. supply, including new product launches. 
  • Ensure that there is appropriate coordination and communication of a rolling 6-12 month supply plan to relevant parties.
  • Track all supply planning and inventory status on a monthly basis, and report results. 
  • Ensure that all planning parameters are reviewed and updated regularly, e.g. safety days, in-transit lead time, production lead time, capacity constraints, etc.
  • Lead monthly planning meetings for the responsible categories to reach consensus on schedules and plans over the planning horizon. 
  • Recommend changes to target inventories, turns and safety stocks when necessary to deliver required customer service levels.
  • Recommend disposal of obsolete or expired inventories as appropriate.
  • Escalates supply constraints as needed and with appropriate lead time.

    • Identifies and resolves conflicts with supply and demand, and availability of capacity. 

 

New Product Launch (NPI) Supply Planning

  • Manage multiple new products as assigned to effect development of supply chain strategy, launch management / execution and post-launch value chain management.
  • Effectively communicate the status of In-House NPI projects, issues, risks and opportunities for optimization. 
  • Phase out product identified and managed in order to minimize obsolescence including finished goods, semi-finished goods and raw materials.
  • Represent the Supply Chain function in various recurring design/product meetings.

OEM Vendor Management

  • Collaborate with OEM vendors to ensure production plans are established and potential risk to supply is identified and mitigated.
  • Collaborate with Demand Planning and the Brand Team to influence launch or phase out plans to optimize revenue growth, cost, inventory, obsolescence, and speed to market highlighting trade-offs, cost/benefit analyses, and making recommendations.
  • Ensure appropriate contingency plans established based on levels of risk (i.e. Capacity shortfall, demand exceed forecast, etc.).
  • Develop and manage a launch plan to ensure project stays on task and minimal surprises at time of market release.

Product Master Data Management

  • Responsible for loading new item master data in the company’s ERP System and manage all necessary changes/updates as required.
  • Monitor the workflow process for new item requests and changes.

Qualifications:

 Education

Preferred:

College degree in Business, Operations, Engineering or related fields. Masters in a related field is a plus.

 

Work Experience

Required:

3+ years in global supply chain, purchasing, logistics, planning, manufacturing.

 

Preferred:

3+ years in a Supply Chain position with intensive vendor and employee management experience.



Skills and General Experience:
High level of business computer skill is mandatory, including Excel, ERP/MRP.  Engineering, material, and technical experience are preferred.  Management, time management, communication, and organizational skills are essential.  Experience in purchasing, planning, and troubleshooting a must.  Extensive global travel experience – with an emphasis on Asian based supply chains is preferred.
