Position Summary:

Develop and commercialize marketing material and packaging according to internal compliance, product and branding standards of Black Diamond. Maintain up to date vendor capabilities and industry standards to deliver technical and innovative packaging.  Drive the collaboration to develop short and long term packaging strategy and execute on season implementation. Supervise and coordinate all development and production aspects of packaging.  Coordinate all product translations and manage the needs of Marketing, RND and ESS.  Manage the commercialization of visual merchandising projects and act as a bridge between Marketing and Supply Chain.

Authorized and responsible to continuously improve upon and perform all duties according to Black Diamond’s Quality, Safety and Employee Policies and procedures:

-Lead cross-functional team to develop forward-looking packaging direction and standards

-Communicates and applies brand standard to all packaging projects

-Develop and implement packaging, labels, thread and hangtags to meet performance and quality standards, manufacturing capabilities. 

-Track all developments seasonally and ensures that all meet adoption and buy ready timelines

  • New product/all new packaging
  • Revised product/revised packaging
  • Carryover/no packaging changes

-Accountable for creating and driving a development process to packaging deliverables

-Drive packaging development and innovation by working with community, brand, designers, vendors reviewing industry trends and other information sources

-Provide updates to management as requested regarding strategy, implementation delivery, development, buy ready and pricing status.

-Work with sourcing to identify areas of cost saving across your business area through opportunities such as commitment to leverage, scale, product sourcing routes and duty minimization, etc.

-Manage the product copy translation process to ensure product copy is thoroughly and accurately represented in the needed foreign language(s).

-Work with Marketing and Supply Chain to effectively commercialize Visual Merchandising projects.  This includes working with vendors to confirm cost, lead time, minimum order quantities and an execution timeline.




Bachelor's degree in any discipline


Bachelors degree in Business, Marketing or related fields

Work Experience


2 years minimum in a project management capacity, or in a corporate agency environment.

   Preferred:  3-5 years of apparel, hard/soft good industry experience and a working knowledge of the industry.

 Alternative qualification:  Additional 3 years experience in above (5 years total) can substitute for a Bachelor’s degree.


Skills and General Experience:

Required: Demonstrated success in working across departments and communicate with cross-functional teams.  Successful track record developing forward-looking direction and standards (2, 3, 4, years out). Demonstrated ability to lead a broad and diverse group toward achieving a mutually agreed upon goal. High degree of organizational skills, project management skills, attention to detail, and scheduling ability required. Experience and demonstrated success working with clients and meeting their needs. Proficiency/literacy with basic PC computer software: WORD, EXCEL. Experience and knowledge of climbing and/or skiing is preferable.
